Volunteer Code of Conduct 

Thank you for volunteering with Filling in the Blanks!  We love our volunteers!  

Volunteers represent Filling in the Blanks, and we ask that our volunteers please review and follow this Volunteer Code of Conduct, which reflects the spirit and mission of Filling in the Blanks.   

Be Respectful 

  • Be courteous, respectful, and kind to all volunteers, staff members, donors, and beneficiaries. 
  • Arrive on time for volunteer activities. 
  • Let a Filling in the Blanks staff member or supervising volunteer if you are unable to attend an activity you are scheduled to attend. 
  • Follow all rules and policies communicated by a Filling in the Blanks staff member or supervising volunteer. 

Be Safe 

  • Follow and observe safe work habits and be aware of the safety of others. 
  • Wear appropriate attire for the volunteer activity that you are attending. 
  • For packing activities in the Filling in the Blanks warehouse, wear close-toed shoes and no loose-fitting clothing. 
  • For activities in the Filling in the Blanks warehouse, volunteers must stay within designated volunteer areas only.   
  • Volunteers must stay within the designated packing area of the warehouse and must not enter the storage bay area of the warehouse or they may be asked to leave the warehouse. 
  • During a public health crisis (e.g., epidemic, pandemic, or endemic), volunteers may be required to follow specific protocols. 
  • Follow safety protocols that have been communicated for the volunteer activity you are attending, which may include sanitizing hands and wearing a face mask. 
  • Volunteers should not attend any activities if they are experiencing any symptoms of an infectious and contagious illness or disease. 
  • Volunteers may be denied access to, or requested to leave, a volunteer activity if they fail to follow requested safety protocols. 
  • Report any injuries, accidents, or incidents that may have occurred while volunteering to a Filling in the Blanks staff member or supervising volunteer. 

 

Maintain Confidentiality 

  • Please maintain and respect the privacy of Filling in the Blanks volunteers, staff members, donors, and beneficiaries.  

 

Filling in the Blanks reserves the right to discontinue your volunteer services for any reason, including failure to adhere to these guidelines. We do not sign or track court mandated hours.
